  2. Sugar Loaf Mountain Sugar Loaf Mountain is a family recreational area maintained on Sandhills State Forest. Opportunities abound for numerous forms of recreation such as bird watching, picnics, nature study, fishing, primitive camping, hiking and horseback riding.
  3. Sandhills State Forest - The Sandhills State Forest is part of a unique ecosystem consisting of 46,000 acres characterized by deep sands with generally arid conditions.

    Sandhills State Forest requires a permit for trail activity and for Horseback Riding. Permits are not required for hikers using the trails.

    Permits can be obtained from the Sandhills State Forest Headquarters.

    Cost per permit (permits are valid on any of the three State Forests):

    Individual Permit:
    Daily - $5.00
    Annual - $25.00
