- Sugar Loaf Mountain Sugar Loaf Mountain is a family recreational area maintained on Sandhills State Forest. Opportunities abound for numerous forms of recreation such as bird watching, picnics, nature study, fishing, primitive camping, hiking and horseback riding.
- Sandhills State Forest - The Sandhills State Forest is part of a unique ecosystem consisting of 46,000 acres characterized by deep sands with generally arid conditions.
- Sandhills State Forest requires a permit for trail activity and for Horseback Riding. Permits are not required for hikers using the trails.
- Permits can be obtained from the Sandhills State Forest Headquarters.
